About Us
Creed
The only religious creed to which members shall be required to subscribe without reservation shall be the following:
We unqualifiedly affirm and believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of God in the original languages of the Bible (both the Old and New Testaments); and is the only authority of Christian faith and practice. (II Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Psalm 100:5, 160; John 17:17, II Peter 1:21)
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Genesis1:1, John 10:30, 37-38)
We believe in the Genesis account of the creation of man by the direct act of God. (Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1 and 2)
We believe in the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ; His sinless life, His miracles, His deity and identification as the Son of God; His vicarious atonement for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the cross; the resurrection of His body from the tomb; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory; and His power to save men from sin; (Matthew 1:21-23). And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 1:35, John 2:11, 11:25; Acts 1:11, II Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 1:7, Philippians 2:5-10, Colossians 1:14, Hebrews 4:15, 7:25, 9:12; I Peter 2:22, Revelation 19:11-16)
We believe that man is sinful by nature and that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential and an absolute necessity for his salvation. Sinful man is wholly saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (John 3:16-19, 5:24; Acts. 20:21, Romans 3:19, 23; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5, 6)
We believe in the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Galatians 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” I Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18)
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost—those who are saved unto eternal life and they who are lost unto eternal damnation. (John 5: 28-29 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” I Corinthians 15:42-58, John 5:28, 29, Rev. 20:11-15)
We reject any attempt to “reinterpret” Scripture in light of “modern” moral or psychological theories. In the Biblical account of creation, the family was the first societal institution ordained by God. (Genesis 1:27; 2:18-22) Furthermore, Scripture plainly declares that the first two humans created by God were a man and a woman. (Genesis 1:27; 2:18-22) God commanded the man and the woman to be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth. (Genesis 1:28) Accordingly, all forms of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. (Genesis 2:24; 19:5; 13; 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4) Since we believe that all sexual activity outside of a marriage between a man and a woman, including homosexual practices, are in direct opposition to God’s Word and constitute a direct contradiction to God’s institution of the home, we will not retain in membership any school who promotes by their faculty, homosexual behavior or any other sexual activity outside of a Biblical marriage.
This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
Mission
The mission of the Georgia Association of Christian Schools is to promote and support the development of quality Christian education in the state of Georgia. GACS desires to develop Christian character in students by providing member schools with programs that are conducive to mental, moral, spiritual, aesthetic, and physical development. “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” Luke 2:52
History
The Georgia Association of Christian Schools (GACS) was organized in 1970 with ten (10) charter members for the purpose of coordinating the activities of a conservative group of Christian schools within the state. Over the years, it has provided a means of disseminating needed information, protecting Christian schools from government encroachment, and offering an increasing number of services and programs to its member schools.
GACS was incorporated under the laws of the State of Georgia on March 3, 1976, and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. The Association lists a membership of over forty schools with a total membership of more than 4,500 students in 2015-2016.
